Load Testing

Cream City works with a variety of crane companies to provide test weights for use in conducting load tests for overhead cranes. OSHA sets strict guidelines that demand cranes be load tested in a timely fashion. Cream City maintains a huge inventory of certified weights and experienced technicians to assist in conducting these tests. Load Test Example - Riverside Energy Center
Cream City
performed a load test of an overhead crane for the Riverside Energy Center in Beloit, Wisconsin. The test, mandated by Federal law, lifted 185,000 lbs of concrete and steel over 60 feet into the air. The crane itself is used to move the center's two 175,000 lb, natural gas combustion turbines for repair and replacement.

Load Test Example - Port of Milwaukee
Cream City and Reynolds Crane Service teamed up to perform a load test to certify a Load Bar. The front sleigh has two 8,000lb weights, the middle has two 30,000lb weights and the back has two 18,000 lb weights. 112,000 lbs is the total of all of the weights and the Spreader Bar itself weighs 10,000 lbs, for a grand total of 122,000 lbs. The bar must be perfectly balanced and level and maintain its fabrication strength for 10 minutes.

The lift was a success. The bar was then transported to port of Milwaukee. It is to be used to load barges when the load is 35' long and 15' wide, which is the largest freight container size on a barge site.
